Oh So Thankful for You*
my dear readers, my dear friends, my dear families, lovers and other strangers, and all far away and in between :) You rock my world. :)
I supposed it’d be too easy to talk about over eating, or the mistreatment of animals, or about farming and agribusiness like a usual post, because it’s THANKSGIVING, the most all consuming holiday of the year – but i’m not going to today :) and my over saturated head in food stuff takes a well deserved break too, yadeedah… :)
Thanksgiving is my all time favourite holiday next to Christmas. It is the ONE day I overeat and gorge my face with love knowingly and exceedingly, and it is the ONE DAY where I throw away all my cares about where my food comes from, how it was made, and why.
Why?
Because It’s the one time of year that represents what food is all about to me. EVERYONE is brought together, no matter what, feeling all warm and gooey inside, to share and bask in the LOVE. It’s all about FAMILY, it’s all about Giving, and gosh darnit, it’s all about the FOOD and EATING THE FOOD.
food advocacy and lobbying politics turn into hilarious family and social dynamics (always fun, dramatic, and entertaining…)
food for thought becomes warmth in my stomach, joy in my heart, and oh the funny things that wine, cheese, and turkey do to me…so sleepyyyy.
everyone attempts to contribute in some way, to cook or share, to tell and to laugh, to catch up
and at the end of the day, no matter how stressful it was for everyone to travel to and get back to their roots, to home, and to a place that welcomes with open arms, it’s just a whole lotta people getting together to eat, to enjoy themselves and having a gay ole time. Most people are on vacation, and most people feel great to be appreciated and all snuggled up.
now culturally, if we could transfer all this happy energy into a ball, and carry it with us… how awesome would that be? :) hahaha, i know i try to do it, at least until christmas. :)
baby niece and nephew cousins, a breath of fresh air in the new jersey green air away from the city, a return to a normal sleeping schedule (haha), getting some work done in between all my foodscapes … and feeling so loved through all the technologies from people far away… i am happy and i am loved :)
Hope you are having a fABLUOUS weekend,
xoxo Cheers! Jlo xoxo
