Grass Fed Makes Me Feel Well Fed.
An Ode to the greener grass on this side of the dream.
(NYC is the place to be! you know what i mean…)
After an awesome dance concert on a beautiful Saturday,
I walked towards union square with a great friend,
to drop her off along the way.
I treated myself to a shopping spree at the green market at union square,
and called Leiti, you dork, meet me there!
and wanting to give up amongst all the chaos,
a cutie golden retriever saved me from giving up lost.
amongst all the fresh veg, pumpkins, and apple cider,
i was happy to be staring at wholefoods instead of inside her.
After a vegetarian detox, I was searching for a treat,
after a very refreshing and much needed meatless week.
and then i found the booth and the man that made my day,
two 8 oz grass fed beef steaks,
wow 30 dollars cash, is that really what i would pay?
hells yes, it’ll be worth it, especially on this beautiful day
for two? he asked,
and i shook my head slightly,
it’s just me,
but these will feed me for four days i joked lightly.
i cooked it to perfection,
with a soy sauce,
onion, and orange juice reduction.
Boy was it yummy,
marveling at what beef should taste like with nothing funny.
Afterwards my tummy rumbled for some good company and dessert
as i grabbed my wine and cheese, and prepared to flirt.
dressed to the nines,
I headed uptown on the subway line,
Greeted by many smiles, all warm and cozy
as i settled myself in for an awesome night,
rollin in good times,
with my fellow food hommies.
On the magical grass,
that makes me so happy,
“It’s all natural baby”
and oh so sassy!
I’m so glad i left my apartment, which goes to show,
that at the end of the night,
it’s worth the fight to let the green grow.
We bond over our quest to fight for good food,
and we’re damn good at celebrating the fact that it puts us all in a good mood.
so yay for new friends that take me above,
and makes a girl feel some extra love.
;)
