Fear of Food

Holla  from an airport lounge :) i figured i’d write once more before i embark on my travels to asia, mainly japan for the next few weeks!

few! it’s been one busy summer full of traveling filled with joy and my foodie foodie research as normal, as i LOVE to see and read and talk about what other people eat, how and why all across the board.

so i stumbled across the august issue of Elle Canada Magazine, and in their Elle Body editorial section, this month’s author Amber Nasrulla wrote a very interesting article called “HOT PLATE” — (sorry i’m digging around their website right now and they don’t have an electronic copy of it – i guess that’s how they get ppl to get a hardcopy of the mag) –

she talks about how there now are all these terms and political standings as to what people eat and why that really shapes their social views of the world. — well food for thought is now a common saying – since there does seem to be a fear these days of people asking themselves — “so what SHOULD i be eating?”

i hear this a lot amongst my friends actually, most of them always ask me, since no one really trusts the ppl in charge of food policies anymore, and are in the practice of questioning it all in this noth american society, esp when they hear truths being leaked out about how messed up their intentions are, how animals and their workers are treated and mistreated, and how the industry is lead by people who just don’t care about the health and well being of the people.

food has become politics,

and that is scary.

and people choose to assert their political standings through their consumer buying power with FOOD (in my opinion because they now have to protect their own right to health in america, since the system does not protect their healh as people)

so,

where does this leave us?

ask questions.

where DOES your food come from?

start there. :)

and it never hurts to eat more fruit and veg – EVER.

Happy Conscious Eating and Happy Travels through your very own food for thoughts*

xxo J xoxo
