hahaha, i don't think you're the only one -
problem is - when resource and money are giving the VOICE to people with it, those who do need to take a stand, and want to take a stand, aren't able to, or they're misrepresented.

that's where and how the inequalities of the system keep these people in their places - demoralized, unrepresented, and left with no options to leave their situation because they have to "fend" for themselves.

i do see that us "scholars" and you are one now too, have the challenge of grounding ourselves...as it make seem overwhleming now, it's all about the process of critiquing the system and evaluating what we have to work with in order to make changes, in order to stand up and say "hey, this is Fucked up".

and it's all about getting enough people aware and able to stand up to say something right now that really counts.

i'm all about practicality too -- i'm not even AMERICAN,
and if i can stand here and fight for rights that i don't even have birth right to, you can too.
i know it seems overwhelming, you just have to find what works for you.

not all ppl like to be lectured at, and movies and media and advocates are trying their best to beat the system and to empower people who are effected by policies -- which seems so obvious to us -- ISN'T THAT EVERYONE WHO EATS three times a day in this country?!!??!?

i also forget that, because we're so saturated in this program and information about food and all of it's constituents, not all people think about these things, or even know that there is a problem until it's too late.

hang in there girl, don't loose your love for the actual FOOD itself. ;)

I tried to post this on your Facebook, but it was acting funny. Anyway, I don't think I like Food, Inc. I tried to think as critical as possible and not have a knee-jerk response by the graphic heart-wrenching imagery (the cow that couldn't stand killed me, I LOVE ANIMALS). Also, the soundtrack was ominous but in a cartoonish way.

Maybe I shouldn't have seen it in my current state of mind. I'm over food "scholars" especially those from higher socio-economic levels bitching about the problem rather than taking action on the local level to prevent/curtail food system abuses. I am a functionalist not a philosopher. The lady whose kid died does not get brownie points with me.

Pollan, the dude who wrote Fast Food Nation, and other so-called intellectuals should shut the eff up. Change will only come when someone who is most vulnerable to lawsuits/backlash takes a stand. That means indebted farmers (or rather slaves), Kev's mom, food corp execs with guilty consciences, gov't officials running for reelection, etc need to forget about Big Food fear tactics and become more afraid of the consequences of inaction.

This is not a food issue, but a societal clusterf...When we stop using Benjamins as our god, the little man might be able to save his own seed. I know what I am saying is hard, but I have seen too many lives ruined by green paper. I hate money. The poor feel they have no positive choices because they do not have enough of it and the rich are so stupidly so, they burn it on things they do not want or need. I want to anger some people, have a meaningful discourse, and peel back the layers of bureacracy. I want to incite a revolution.
